Join us for the 2nd Annual Wabash Trail Clean Up on Saturday, July 10. We will be meeting at the church parking lot at 1:45pm and carpooling to pick up litter along the Wabash Bike Trail. Supplies, water, and snacks will be provided. Don’t miss the opportunity to serve your community while having fun with friends along the way. Pizza will be provided for all workers following the event. If you have questions, contact Latif at licarus@rocketmail.com or (608) 213-8111.
Young Adults “serving” in the church? Surely, that doesn’t happen. An occasional special event is one thing, but making an ongoing commitment to return to your post every month is out of character for our spontaneous young adult population… or is it? Truth be told, we have quite a few young adults who serve faithfully in a number of vital roles at West Side. They bring their time and talents to serve others, but they are also blessed in return.
This Sunday, March 14th, you have an opportunity to step up… and sign up for serving in some area of ministry. For the past couple of weeks, the church bulletin has included an insert publicizing the “Volunteer Expo” in the concourse area. When you come to church this week, come early enough to look around and see all the ways you can make a difference… not just “one and done”, but on a regular, ongoing basis.
The Apostle Paul, in Philippians 2:4 says “Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.” Elsewhere, in 1 Timothy 4:12 he encourages his young friend by saying “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity”. If Paul were walking the halls at West Side this Sunday, what would he be telling you?
Go to (http://www.wschurch.org/pdf/444insert.pdf) and take a closer look at where you might fit in.
The leaves are falling … and it’s our chance to SERVE!
The Young Adults are setting out to serve on Saturday, November 7th, and we want you to join us. We will meet at 1 p.m. in Centennial Hall, then go out in teams to rake leaves. Dinner will be provided for all workers. If you have rakes and gloves, please bring them. Leaf bags will be provided and some extra rakes and gloves will be available. Please join us for this fun time as we bless others through serving. Mark your calendars and tell all your friends.
