The wife of noble character. In this, the final chapter of Proverbs, that is the predominant theme. Some think this passage is directed to young men, telling them what kind of wife to seek. Others think this may be a message to young women, telling them how to be the wife every man wants. Still others think this passage has a more general application to all of us, advising us to merge our lives in alignment with the will of God… in effect “marrying” wisdom.

I’ve enjoyed reading along in the Proverbs with everyone. I missed a few days here and there, but I made it through most of the chapters. Something different pops out each time I read it.
What’s next for me? Currently, I’m finishing my trek through the English Standard Version, which means readings in 1 Chronicles and Jeremiah. I’m also in the midst of a more intensive study of Paul’s letters to the Thessalonians. During my years in Bible college, I didn’t have a chance to take a course on the Thessalonians, so I’m eager to see what I find there. If I had to summarize the theme of these letters in one word after an inital reading, I’d say “hope.”
