That’s right… GROW is on SATURDAY night, not Friday night.
That is one of the big changes coming to GROW this year. The other big change is that we will be having live teaching rather than audio/visual media.
Our first teacher will be Patrick Barnthson teaching on the topic of “Grace.” Throughout the year we plan to have guest speakers such as Andrew “Fitz” Fitzgibbon, Gabe Rutledge, and Josh Ryder.
For those of you who are not familiar with GROW, it is a monthly opportunity for young adults to grow deeper in their faith. This is a unique time to gather in an interactive environment that is bigger than a small group and more intimate than a Sunday Service.
Some things will not be changing.
We are still meeting at 2043 Briarcliff Drive (Minick house), still opening the doors at 6:40, still starting at 7:00, and still having lots of great desserts.
Whether you are a GROW “regular” or a first time guest, I hope you will come check it out… this SATURDAY, January 16th.
See you then!
As many of you are aware, our friend, Will Spilman, is in Air Force Basic Training in Texas. He is scheduled to graduate on January 23rd.
Will sent this letter, and asked to share it with his West Side friends.

Dear West Side Crew,
MERRY CHRISTMAS!! From Texas of course, basic training style (yay?). Haha, no it’s good a lot of it’s annoying just dealing with some people but so far I am considered one of the crazy ones that enjoys it here. My flight consists of half spec-ops, half regular air force. Out of the spec-ops guys they are half and half TACP and SERE so it’s awesome getting the chance to know some of the men I will serve with and to whom I will entrust my life.
Some funny stories to share, definitely, but perhaps when I am able to see you all in person I will share them…
…Church here is a cool experience. I have the privilege of sharing my experience with some of my new found brothers and we attend the contemporary protestant service every Sunday. It’s similar to West Side but definitely catered to the trainees (obviously). It’s incredible though because we all sing, cry, laugh, cry, cheer, lock arms, and sway together. It’s an incredible way to grow with people in the same boat. They bring in a civilian band to lead the worship every weekend and it’s a lot of fun. Focused on Christ, of course, but a lot of fun. For Christmas though I will attend liturgical service for a better sermon.

Young adults lined up for David McDow’s tasty soup, salad and bread. They were amazing! (Homemade cookies, too!)
Dozens attended the kickoff of a new tradition for West Side Young Adults: The Second Sunday Lunch.
Don’t miss next month’s!
Mark your calendars: Feb. 14, after the 11 a.m. service.

What an amazing year 2009 was for the young adult ministry at West Side Christian Church!
Four young adults were baptized and 13 made the decision to become members.
Looking forward to seeing what God has in store for us in 2010.
2009 … a look back…

A new event will help kick start the new year: The 2nd Sunday Lunch.
West Side Young Adults will gather for lunch immediately after the 11 a.m. service on the second Sunday of each month.
First meal is this Sunday, Jan. 10.
No need to cook — just go to room CH1 and enjoy a meal while meeting other West Side Young Adults.
Hope to see you there!
Wishing you all the best this year!!
